There are quite a few ghosts who haunt O'House.  Theses are but the few I know about...

GHOSTS
New Ohouse Ghost
I've also heard people who
live in O-House mention the ghost of a little boy who has come to be
known as "Puddles" because he likes to toy with people in the shower. P
eople have mentioned little handprints appearing on their steamed
shower curtains and trails of water with little footprints leading out of
their bathrooms. Great site, by the way!

Location: Ground Floor O'House Ballroom
Spook: A spectral grounds keeper has been sighted in this spacious ballroom.
History: Unknown to me

Location: O'House 3rd Floor Rm. 310
Spook:  A sailor named Harry has been known to move objects
History: Harry sailed the high seas sometime during World War II

Location: O'House 5th Floor
Spook: "Heels"
History:  This spooky hooker is known to follow residents down the halls, when you turn around to look there is no sign of anyone.  As a former RA, I can tell you it was QUITE unnerving to do rounds!

Location: O'House 6th Floor Room 600
Spook: Unknown spirit
History:some say a SCAD student hung themselevs in this room, others argue it was a guest of The Downtowner. This ghost has been know to throw obejcts in the room with residents present.  During rounds one evening a fellow RA and myself heard a noise that sounded like someone throwing a bowling ball at the door.  This room was off limits for sometime.

Location: O'House Room 634
Spook: "Laura" and "Rob"
History:  Laura has a long story that will be covered in the next few pages.
Rob was supposedly a student who was hit by a Cat bus outside near where the swimming pool at O'House was.  Rob reportedly had a thing for watching girls on the 6th Floor shower.

As an RA at SCAD you become privy to information and gossip.  The most interesting thing I ever heard was that there is a supposed file on all the ghostly activity that has been reported at O'House over the years.  Anyone seen this X-File?

Oglethorpe House

O'House History

O'House formerly The Down Towner was built in 1966.
Several buildings have stood on this  spot.  More recently I read that a section of a Jewish Cemetery, but in my research I could find no mention of that ever exisiting on W. Oglethorpe.  What was in the vicinity however was: Elbert Square, which stretched from where the Civic Center is to where O'House is now. Mrs. Eileen McHalpin's Boarding House stood across the street . From 1738 till 1950 The Bethesda Home for Boys and Girls  stood on the corner of W.Broad Street and Oglethorpe. In1813 The Chatham Academy serving as a learning instiution for children 1st grade through highschool stood on Bull and Oglethorpe until it burned down in the fire of 1899.
